Literally! People can get a real estate license in weeks, instead of 18 months&amp;nbsp;of committed study!?!? it&amp;#39;s no wonder people are unhappy about the industry. And this unhappiness, of course, reflects badly on all real estate agents, including&amp;nbsp;REALTOR&amp;reg; agents&amp;nbsp;in Canada.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;I also read how a do-it yourself website is saving thousands of dollars,&amp;nbsp;to the people whom they serve. They will help with the negotiations of the contract, after the buyers have done the basic looking for their home on the internet! The buyers are asked to let the selling agent take care of the showings, that would be like &amp;quot;have to get paid&amp;quot; extra for this kind of&amp;nbsp;work, for these company agents...&amp;nbsp;They seem to do all&amp;nbsp;that work, for a mere two thousand dollars, (sorry I stand corrected $3,000.00) instead of the fabled 6% that regular real estate agents seem to abscond with... and the difference is returned in a cheque, to the clients who are supposedly extatic with this state of affairs...&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;What is wrong with this picture??? It seems to me that&amp;nbsp; - if this Company is returning said money, with the fanfare of such generosity, it means that&amp;nbsp;THEY are charging this fee,&amp;nbsp;in the&amp;nbsp;first place... Maybe, possibly, yes? Is it charged beforehand, maybe advanced with only 6% interest...? How long are they keeping this money for? Are they also giving interest,&amp;nbsp;for the time that they keep it? Is it in a &amp;quot;in trust account&amp;quot;, like here in Canada, guarded and kept safe for our clients? &lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;So, who exactly are they tarring and feathering? And&amp;nbsp;pointing fingers at agents for charging 6%? Just because they do it, does not make it the normal thing to do!! &lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;I&amp;nbsp;feel so blessed and thankful to be living in Canada, where there are standards to follow and our clients are protected from all that. Some discount Brokerages do volume listings on the&amp;nbsp;MLS&lt;span style="font-size:10pt;font-family:Arial;"&gt;&amp;reg;&lt;/span&gt; and that&amp;#39;s about it. Or you have the choice of upgrading to full service with them ,&amp;nbsp;that&amp;#39;s one model of Real estate agent. Then we have the whole range of salespersons/ brokers/ agents who do what they can for the public according to their pockets. From this the Brokerages pay the agents their alloted share, so the fabulous so called &amp;nbsp;6% &amp;quot;given&amp;quot; to the agent,&amp;nbsp;has now turned to 1.30%, add the expenses and time to develop the client relationship, the advertising expense to finally market the home and/or gas money to get to our appointments, etc....
